The Dying of Main Street I don't leave my house much these days. Not after getting stabbed investigating a child trafficking ring out West a few years back. Now I'm a hermit, ordering most of my supplies online. But every so often, I have no choice but to brave the great outdoors of what we still call civilization.
Today was one of those days. I bundled up against the freezing winter chill, hopped on my e-scooter, and zipped down to the local Dollar General. The fluorescent lights hit me first when I walked in. That harsh, institutional brightness that makes everything look slightly poisoned. Then the smell - plastic, cardboard, something vaguely chemical. This is the death of small town America. And biblical prophecy foretold it all.
The Rise of the Corporate Machine Main Street is being fed into the corporate machine. Every town looks the same now - the familiar glow of the Dollar General rising up like a monument to consumerism. The soul-crushing sameness, the loss of local character. It's the fulfillment of ancient warnings.
"He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." (Revelation 13:16-17)
The technology exists right now to make this a reality. Brain chips, digital currency, surveillance systems that track our every move. The End Times signs are all around us. Will we heed the prophetic call to resist before it's too late?
America, Inc. and the End of Individualism I look around at the flood of identical stores, the rows of cheap plastic goods, the vacant expressions of the shoppers... and I'm reminded of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. A society of passive, compliant consumers. Individuals subsumed into the demands of the corporate machine.
"He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law." (Daniel 7:25)
The soul of our nation is being consumed. The unique character of our communities, the spirit of independent enterprise - it's all being ground down into a homogenized mass market. And Scripture warned us this would happen.
A Final Prophetic Warning As I leave Dollar General and head back home, I can't shake the feeling that we're hurtling towards the End Times at breakneck speed. The technology exists right now to fulfill the prophecies of Revelation. Brain chips. Digital currency. Surveillance that monitors our every transaction.
The warnings are all there in the Bible. "He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." (Revelation 13:16-17)
Wake up, America. Our corporate overlords are leading us straight into the clutches of the Antichrist. The death of Main Street is the death of our very souls. If we don't resist now, we may never get another chance.
"The truth doesn't hide. It waits for those brave enough to look."
