"In those days, as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man." - Matthew 24:37
I don't venture out much these days. After that harrowing child trafficking investigation a few years back, I've become a bit of a hermit, relying on Amazon and the internet for most of my needs. But sometimes I have to brave the world beyond my door, and what I see chills me to the bone.
The Decline of Small Town America It used to be that every town had its own unique character, its own Main Street filled with independent shops and local flavor. Not anymore. Now, it's the same soulless big box stores, the same soul-sucking corporate chains, from coast to coast. Dollar General has become the new anchor tenant, replacing the family-owned hardware store or the bustling local diner.
The Prophetic Warning This systematic destruction of small-town America is no accident. It's all part of a disturbing prophetic pattern that we've seen play out time and time again throughout history. The prophet Daniel warned of a great "fourth kingdom" that would "devour the whole earth" (Daniel 7:23). Isaiah foretold a time when "the faithful city has become a whore" (Isaiah 1:21). And in the book of Revelation, we read of a "beast" that would "make war on the saints" (Revelation 13:7).
The Rise of the Corporate Beast Just as Daniel prophesied, we are witnessing the rise of a global corporate "beast" that is devouring the very fabric of our communities. Main Street is dying, replaced by the faceless, impersonal dollar empires of companies like Walmart and Dollar General. And like the mark of the beast in Revelation 13, these corporations are demanding our allegiance, tracking our every move through surveillance and digital currency.
The Warning Signs The signs are all around us, if only we have eyes to see. Empty storefronts on Main Street. Constant construction of new big box stores. Entire towns that look identical, stripped of their unique character. It's the systematic dismantling of the soul of America, all while we're distracted by the latest celebrity scandal or partisan political battle.
"The truth doesn't hide. It waits for those brave enough to look."
