I don't leave my house much anymore. After getting attacked investigating a child trafficking ring a few years back, I developed severe PTSD and became a hermit. Most of my food comes from Amazon these days. But every now and then, I have to brave the outside world.

The other day, I bundled up against the freezing winter chill and zipped down to the local Dollar General on my e-scooter. As soon as I walked in, that harsh, institutional lighting hit me. The smell of plastic and chemicals hung in the air. Everything looked slightly poisonous under those fluorescent bulbs.

It was like a microcosm of what's happening to our nation. Main Street is dying, and the corporate machine is consuming the soul of small-town America. Dollar General is rising from the ashes, as faceless conglomerates swallow up local businesses one by one.

This dystopian vision didn't come out of nowhere. The Bible warned us centuries ago about the end times - and the signs are all around us.
