While the media focused on the sordid details of Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking ring, an even more disturbing story was unfolding behind the scenes. It turns out Epstein, along with tech billionaire Peter Thiel and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, founded a company called Carbyne that gives Israeli intelligence agencies the ability to surveil Americans through their smartphones.
Carbyne is staffed almost entirely by former Unit 8200 operatives - Israel's version of the NSA. When you call 911 in certain American cities, Carbyne can turn on your phone's camera, track your GPS location, and run you through government databases. Former Israeli military intelligence officers can watch you through your phone while you're calling for emergency assistance.
This company was started in 2015, right after Epstein's conviction for sex trafficking. A convicted pedophile, a surveillance tycoon, and an Israeli political leader teaming up to monitor American citizens? That certainly sounds like the kind of unsettling, "end times" scenario biblical prophecy often warns about.
The prophet Daniel foretold a time when a "king of the North" would rise up and "exalt himself and magnify himself above every god" (Daniel 11:36). Could Carbyne and its Israeli ties be a harbinger of this prophesied global surveillance state?
In the book of Revelation, we read about a "beast" system that will "cause all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead" (Revelation 13:16). Is Carbyne's ability to monitor Americans through their smartphones a disturbing step towards this chilling end times scenario?
As unsettling as these connections may be, we must remember that these events are all part of God's sovereign plan. The Bible assures us that, in the end, "the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High" (Daniel 7:27). No matter how dark the world becomes, our hope remains in Christ's ultimate victory.
"The truth doesn't hide. It waits for those brave enough to look."
