The Apocalypse According to Dollar General: How Corporate America is Fulfilling Biblical Prophecy
I'm no longer the intrepid investigative journalist I once was. After that nasty run-in with a child trafficking ring out west a few years back, I developed a severe case of PTSD and became a full-blown hermit. These days, I mostly just hunker down at home, subsisting on Amazon deliveries and avoiding the outside world.
But every so often, I'm forced to brave the elements and venture into town. And let me tell you, what I see ain't pretty.
The Soulless Sprawl of Corporate America
Main Street is dying a slow, agonizing death. Everywhere you look, the familiar landmarks of small-town America are being consumed by the voracious corporate machine. The family-owned hardware store, the locally-sourced diner, the independent bookshop - all gone, replaced by that ubiquitous symbol of soulless consumerism: the Dollar General.
It's like a biblical plague, this relentless march of corporate consolidation. And as I stand amid the fluorescent-lit aisles, choking on the acrid stench of plastic and chemicals, I can't help but feel like I'm witnessing the fulfillment of ancient prophecy.
The Writing on the Wall
The Book of Daniel warned us about this, you know. A vision of four great beasts, each more monstrous than the last, rising up to devour the earth. And in Revelation, John paints a terrifying picture of a "beast" system that would control the world's economy, forcing everyone to bear its mark.
Well, folks, that beast is here. It's called Dollar General, and it's devouring small-town America one community at a time.
The Tribulation of Main Street
As these corporate behemoths spread like a virus, swallowing up local businesses and draining the lifeblood from our communities, the very soul of our nation is dying. Every town looks the same, every storefront an identical clone. The unique character, the sense of place, the heart and spirit of America - it's all being erased, consumed by the ravenous maw of global capitalism.
The Prophetic Timeline Accelerates
And the scary part is, this is just the beginning. If the Book of Revelation is to be believed, this is merely the opening act in a much grander, more terrifying drama. The rise of the beast system, the global economic control, the forced compliance - it's all unfolding before our eyes.
So, my fellow citizens, heed the warnings of the prophets. Be on the lookout for the signs. Because the apocalypse, it seems, is coming to a Dollar General near you.
