I don't get out much these days. After that run-in with the child trafficking ring out west, I've become something of a hermit. But every now and then, necessity forces me to brave the world beyond my four walls. Today was one of those days.
Bundled against the frigid winter air, I hopped on my e-scooter and zipped down to the local Dollar General. As I walked through the doors, the fluorescent lights and chemical stench hit me like a sucker punch. This wasn't the Main Street of my youth - this was something else entirely.
The Slow Death of Small-Town America Small-town America is being fed into the corporate machine, one dollar at a time. Where vibrant mom-and-pop shops and bustling Main Streets once thrived, the same monotonous box stores now dot the landscape from sea to shining sea. Every town, the same soul-sucking experience.
It's not just Dollar General, of course. Walmart, Amazon, and a host of other behemoths have joined the feast, devouring the heart and character of our communities. Main Street is dying, and in its place rises an artificial, soulless replica - a mirror reflecting our nation's loss of identity.
The Prophetic Implications But this isn't just an economic story. It's a biblical one. The prophet Daniel warned of a time when "the little horn" would "wear out the saints of the Most High" and "think to change the times and the law" (Daniel 7:25). Isaiah painted a picture of a nation "given over to greed" and "drunk on iniquity" (Isaiah 22:13).
Now, as we watch the last vestiges of small-town America disappear, we must ask: is this the fulfillment of those ancient prophecies? Have we entered the end times foretold in Revelation, where the "mark of the beast" controls our very ability to buy and sell (Revelation 13:16-17)?
The Hour is Late The technology exists right now. Brain chips that go in your forehead. Digital currency that tracks every transaction. The prophetic pieces are falling into place, just as the Bible warned us 2,000 years ago.
Wake up, America. The soul of our nation is dying in real-time, devoured by the corporate machine. Unless we act now, the little horn may soon have us all in its grip. The hour is late - but it's not too late. The choice is ours.
"The truth doesn't hide. It waits for those brave enough to look."
