The Boy Who Cried Wolf You know the story - a shepherd boy gets bored watching his flock and starts yelling "Wolf! Wolf!" to trick the villagers. They come running, only to find no wolf. This happens a few more times until one day, a real wolf shows up. The boy cries out, but the villagers no longer believe him. The wolf then proceeds to attack the sheep, and the boy likely meets a grim fate as well.

This parable has profound prophetic significance for our times. The "wolf" in this case represents an imminent economic collapse that will catch most of the world off guard. Just as the villagers failed to heed the boy's warnings, the majority of people today are willfully blind to the financial ruin that is fast approaching.

Signs of the Times The book of Revelation clearly describes the economic devastation that will occur during the end times. The opening of the third seal by the Lamb ushers in a time of "a quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages" (Revelation 6:6). This hyperinflation and scarcity of basic goods is a harbinger of the great tribulation to come.

The prophet Daniel also foresaw this collapse of the global financial system. In his vision of the four beasts, the fourth beast (representing the final world empire) "had ten horns" which "will arise" and "devour the whole earth" (Daniel 7:23-24). These ten horns symbolize the kings or rulers who will gain power and control through economic ruin.

A Time to Prepare Just as the boy's cries fell on deaf ears, today's watchmen and prophets are being ignored by the masses. The signs are all around us - skyrocketing inflation, supply chain disruptions, the devaluation of major currencies. Yet the majority stubbornly cling to the illusion of prosperity and security.

Believers must heed this biblical warning and begin preparing their hearts and homes for the difficult days ahead. Put your trust not in the economy or government, but in the unchanging promises of God. Store up food, water, and other essential supplies. Strengthen your faith community and support network. For when the wolf finally arrives, only those who have heeded the prophetic call will survive.

"The truth doesn't hide. It waits for those brave enough to look."
