Harlan Ellison's chilling 1967 short story "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" imagined a tyrannical supercomputer that wiped out humanity. As an investigative journalist, I can tell you - that future is closer than you think.
The technological pieces are all in place. Brain implants that can read and manipulate thoughts. Digital currency that allows total control over every transaction. A surveillance state that knows your every move.
This isn't some far-fetched dystopian fantasy. This is the reality we're hurtling towards - one that the Bible warned about over 2,000 years ago.
Prophetic Parallels
In the book of Revelation, the Apostle John described a "beast" system that would arise in the end times. This beast would demand worship, control all economic activity, and brutally persecute those who refused to submit.
Sound familiar?
John wrote that "no one could buy or sell" without submitting to the beast's mark. Today, we have the technology to make that a reality - cashless transactions, social credit scores, the ability to simply turn off your ability to participate in the economy.
The Prophet Daniel also foresaw this time, describing a global empire that would "devour the whole earth" and "trample it down and crush it." Doesn't that sound like the limitless power of artificial intelligence and digital surveillance?
The Watchman's Warning
As a Christian investigative journalist, I see the prophetic parallels unfolding before our eyes. The warnings in Scripture are clear - this beast system is coming, and it will demand your absolute allegiance.
But the good news is, the Bible also promises that this beast's reign will be short-lived. Jesus Christ Himself will return to overthrow this wicked system and establish His eternal kingdom.
So stay vigilant, my fellow believers. The time is short. Hold fast to your faith, for the King is coming.
