I don't leave my house much anymore. After getting stabbed investigating a child trafficking operation out west a few years back, I developed severe PTSD and became something of a hermit. But every now and then, I need to brave the outside world.
Today was one of those days. I bundled up against the freezing winter chill and zipped down to the local Dollar General on my e-scooter. The fluorescent lights hit me first, that harsh institutional brightness that makes everything look slightly poisonous. Then the smell - plastic, cardboard, chemicals. It was like stepping into the jaws of a corporate beast.
The Rise and Rise of Dollar General
Dollar General is a retail juggernaut, with over 16,000 stores across 46 states. They're expanding at a breakneck pace, opening a new location every 6 hours. And they're not alone - the "retail apocalypse" has seen once-vibrant Main Streets across America replaced by a cookie-cutter sameness.
"Every town the same. Every soul consumed," as I wrote in my last dispatch. I've seen it with my own eyes - the boarded-up windows, the vacant lots where mom-and-pop shops used to thrive. In their place rise the fluorescent-lit behemoths of Dollar General, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree. Soulless corporate entities that are methodically buying up and cannibalizing the heart and character of our nation.
The Biblical Warning
But this isn't just an economic crisis. It's a spiritual one too. The Bible warns of a coming "time of tribulation" when the world will be consumed by greed, conformity, and the destruction of all that is good and righteous.
"They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful." (Revelation 17:14)
Is the death of small town America a sign of this coming tribulation? A harbinger of the "end times" spoken of in Scripture? The systematic eradication of our unique local identities in favor of a homogenized, corporate-controlled landscape certainly fits the biblical description.
The Deep State Conspiracy
Of course, the powers that be will deny any such connection. They'll dismiss it as "conspiracy theory" and label me a tinfoil-hat-wearing kook. But I've seen the evidence with my own eyes. I've traced the money trails, followed the threads. This isn't some random market shift - it's a calculated, orchestrated takeover.
The big-box retailers, the venture capitalists, the politicians in their pockets. They're all in on it, sacrificing the soul of our nation on the altar of quarterly profits. Unless we wake up and fight back, soon there may be nothing left of the America we once knew.
"The truth doesn't hide. It waits for those brave enough to look."
