Back in 1976, screenwriter Paddy Chayefsky laid out the exact blueprint for this media takeover in his Oscar-winning film Network. Peter Finch played the news anchor Howard Beale, who had a breakdown on live TV and started telling the cold, hard truth.

"This is not a psychotic episode. It's a cleansing flow of pure, honest, human truth!" Beale screamed.

Chayefsky was warning us. The "beast" was rising, and the media was its mouthpiece. Well, the beast is here, and the media is dancing to its tune.
